How we work

Three rules we do not bend

Interior design has a lot of theatre around it. We would rather tell you what a room actually needs, even when that is less than you expected.

Measure before you buy

Every layout starts with a tape measure and a floor plan. A sofa that looks right online can close off a walkway you use every day.

Materials that age well

Solid timber, wool, linen, stone. We favour finishes that can be repaired or refinished instead of replaced when they wear.

Honest budgets

You will hear where a budget is realistic and where it is not. Every price on this site is a sample, and it is labelled that way.

Featured collections

Four directions, one palette

Each collection groups furniture, textiles, and lighting that already share a temperature, so pieces can move between rooms.

Materials & craft

What each material does after two years

Showroom lighting makes everything look perfect. What matters is how a surface behaves once a family has lived on it for a while.

We keep notes on every material we specify, and we will tell you which ones need maintenance and which ones simply wait.

Solid oakMarks show, but can be sanded and re-oiled. Best for tables and shelving used daily.
Washed linenSoftens and creases with washing. Slipcovers are the practical way to use it on sofas.
TravertinePorous and heavy. Beautiful, but needs coasters and quick wipe-ups for oil and citrus.
Wool boucléHardwearing but pills slightly at first. Vacuum gently rather than brushing it.
